PD Gladiators is proud to be included in the National Parkinson Foundation‘s new national #WhyWeFight campaign as an example of a successful program funded through their Moving Day Community Grants program. In June 2014, PD Gladiators was awarded $15,000 to create the PD Gladiators Metro Atlanta Fitness Network, an affiliation of independent fitness instructors, the YMCA of Metro Atlanta and personal trainers that now offers over 40 weekly group exercise classes to people with Parkinson’s disease throughout metro Atlanta. Livramento Delgado Boxing Foundation–the nonprofit led by retired professional boxer Paul Delgado–was also awarded $5,000 to help fund new PD Gladiators Boxing Training for PD classes. That program, featured in the video below, now has about 40 participants on the active roster, offers three classes per week and, like our other exercise programs, provides hope to people with Parkinson’s who want to fight back. That’s #WhyWeFight!
