PD Gladiators Featured on Atlanta’s FOX 5 News

Larry and Ellie Kahn, two of the founders of PD Gladiators, were featured on Atlanta’s FOX 5 News this evening in a piece entitled, “Local man finds help for Parkinson’s Disease in boxing gym. The Kahns teamed with retired professional boxer Paul Delgado of Delgado Boxing Gym in Sandy Springs to organize the PD Gladiators Boxing Training for PD program earlier this year and formed a non-profit, PD Gladiators, Inc., to spread exercise opportunities and hope to people with Parkinson’s throughout the metro Atlanta area. As FOX Medical Team Reporter Beth Galvin noted,  “the National Parkinson Foundation says vigorous exercise like this no-contact boxing class may help Parkinson’s patients not only lessen their symptoms, but slow down their disease.  And the more intense the exercise, the more benefit.”

The PD Gladiators Metro Atlanta Fitness Network, which includes a community partnership with the YMCA of Metro Atlanta, is expected to offer almost 40 classes adapted for people with Parkinson’s disease every week by the end of January 2015.

  1. Great story. I have had Parkinson’s for 14 years. About 10 years ago, I did a keynote speech before an Indiana Pacers game for a Parkinson’s boxing gym called Rock Steady Boxing. I lived in Louisville at the time and it motivated me to do the same at Core Combat. I am now in Phoenix, Arizona and go to Iron Glove Boxing. This alternative exercise has been a God sent.
