Optimizing Exercise for Parkinson’s
This low impact recovery class is designed to help people with Parkinson’s improve self-awareness and learn how to effectively and safely execute mobility, balance and strength activities they may practice in other classes adapted for PD or on their own. Vigorous and varied exercise is critical to the management of PD. Learning proper technique (including mindfulness/intentionality), posture and positioning is the key to avoiding injury and gaining the maximum benefit from your routine (as well as every day activities), whether you are a new or experienced exerciser. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR ALL NEW GLADIATORS WHO MEET ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS!

Dhana is a Physical Therapist for Northside Hospital Atlanta. She lives in Alpharetta with her daughter Kylie. Dhana graduated with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2009. She also holds a BA in Dance Performance from Winthrop University. Dhana is passionate about health and wellness and has worked in the fitness industry for many years as an instructor and personal trainer. She has been a volunteer with PD Gladiators for four years and recently took on the job as Volunteer Coordinator for the LDBF-PD Gladiators Boxing program. Dhana’s goal as an instructor is to educate and improve mobility for all participants in a safe, fun, and high-energy environment.
Eligibility: Optimizing Exercise for PD is open to men and women with PD and their care partners. There is no age limitation but participants should consult with their physicians before joining. This class is appropriate for people who can exercise at a mild to moderate intensity without assistance during standing activity.
Safety: This general fitness class has been modified to meet the needs of Parkinson’s patients. Dhana is a Doctor of Physical Therapy with a neurological focus and is a certified instructor of the LSVT BIG program for people with PD.
When: Tuesdays, 3:30pm – 4:30pm

Cost: First two classes free for Gladiators new to the LDBF family! Classes may then be paid for individually, by purchasing a 10-class service package for $8 per class. A monthly pass from LDBF can be purchased for only $70 and includes all Boxing Training for PD classes as well as Optimizing Exercise for PD.
Registration/Reservations: No registration or reservations necessary for your two free trial classes. We recommend contacting PD Gladiators or the instructor (or checking the Online Scheduler‘s CLASSES tab) to confirm the class you wish to attend has not been cancelled for the day.
